Babies Don't Keep
Oh the anticipation of holding your tiny perfect angel for the first time! The feeling of nervousness mixed with pure joy and excitement! Hold tight Mamas, these sweet moments go by so very fast! I was so honored to do an heirloom newborn session for my friends Angela and Zach. This is their second baby girl. I had the honor of doing big sisters newborn pictures 2 years ago! This sweet girl reminds me so much of her big sister. I wonder if Mom and Dad stare at her for hours trying to pick out the sweet similarities of both of their daughters.
Most of you know that in addition to being a photographer, I am also a Nurse Practitioner at the local children’s hospital. I am so lucky to have so many doctor friends! I am able to watch them start as brand new doctors right out of med school…watching how they grow and flourish through the residency program. It’s beautiful witnessing them achieve so many milestones in their lives such as getting engaged, married or in this case, starting families of their own.
I feel so honored to help my friends capture their first memories of their tiny new miracles. I also get sad when I see them complete the program and go out into the world to start in their own practices as Pediatricians. The bond I have with these many different families is something that I don't take for granted! Being able to photograph both of their baby girls was so special!
The sweet baby grins, the perfect tiny fingers, the little baby coos, the smell of pink baby lotion, the way she fits perfectly into her Mama’s arms. I know her Mama is gonna hold these memories in her heart forever! This phase of infancy will fly by in the blink of an eye. So in the fogginess that is the newborn phase, be sure to soak it all in, because babies don't keep!
