Clear For Takeoff

So, do yall remember the epic engagement session that I did this past Fall of Allison and Josh…you know the one where I got to literally stand on the wings of an airplane and take the most epic sunset pictures you have ever seen!!  You can read more about that here. Their love story is one of my favorites. It is a beautiful testament to God’s faithfulness and how the Lord intricately placed his hand on every detail of Allison and Josh’s life.

I could not be more thrilled that Adam and I got to photograph their wedding day on January 4th. If you remember, it had rained for like 2 weeks straight during this time. Like EVERY SINGLE DAY! I was so afraid that we were going to have a monsoon during the wedding. But thank the good Lord, it didn’t rain that day! The clouds simply moved out of the way as if to welcome Allison’s and Josh’s wedding day. It was a chilly 35-degree day with epic proportion winds, BUT, the sun was gloriously shining and not a drop of rain. We may have lost the brides veil more than a few times due to the wind!!

Allison only slept for one hour the night before, and I don’t think Josh had much more sleep than that…but you couldn’t tell! The joy of the Lord filled their hearts that day and they were surrounded by people from all over the nation that came together to witness their covenant. Yall, the day was easy I tell ya! If there were any hiccups throughout the day, we sure didn’t know about it! We started by taking pictures of the bride and groom outside of Highlands Chapel. Then we were able to witness a pinning ceremony for Josh where he was promoted from Captain to Major. So many of Josh’s friends from the Air Force Academy were there to share in this special moment. This was a first for me to witness as well!

Can we just take a moment to talk about the beautiful ceremony.  There were around 150 guests there, but I felt more like I was in an intimate church worship service. Allison walked down the aisle wearing a beautiful white gown escorted by her Father with the song “I Choose You“ playing. Josh beamed with joy as he watched his bride headed toward him. You could feel the anticipation in the room. Josh and Allison chose to do communion during their ceremony, and the guests got to participate as well.  The bride and groom worshipped the Lord with their hands lifted high in praise…. and let me tell you…WOW it was a beautiful moment. I caught myself putting my camera down and singing with my own hands lifted as the song “What a Beautiful Name” saturated the entire chapel. The words echoed the sentiment of the room… “Nothing compares to this”.  You couldn’t help but feel the presence of the Lord.

After the ceremony was over, the couple walked through a sword arch hosted by multiple officers from the Air Force. It was so special to have so many military traditions woven into the day…especially since Allison’s Dad was a career Navy man (he was sure to rub that in with all the Air Force Officers in the room! Lol) They drove away in a black vintage car to the reception site at Matthews Manor in Springville, AL.

Allison and Josh had their first dance to “I Prayed for You” by Matt Stell. They were surrounded by friends and family as they danced the night away! This wedding was so much fun for Adam and I also, everyone made us feel like family. We may have even caught ourselves dancing a few times too!! They had an exit with sparklers and headed off to their honeymoon! Josh and Allison, I could not be more excited for you guys. Your love for each other and the Lord was evident during your special day. I know you two are only getting started in the epic plans he has for you! Love you big and wishing you all the best!
