Who has been following me on social media?? If you have, then you know that I was able to officially open my brand-new studio!! Oh my, y’all I am shouting from the rooftops! There is still much work to be done to the exterior, but the inside is all fixed up! While I have loved my in-home cozy and quaint studio, I know that I wanted to be able to offer my clients more. I have always loved bright and airy photography, but I was just not able to offer that in my in-home studio. My sweet friend Heather and her beautiful family came to visit me to capture some photos with the newest member of the family! Welcome to the world baby Fox! Fox was 2 months old at the time of this session. We sure had to bribe older brother Calvin to smile for us!! But in the end we got some great shots!
There are typically 2 different types of newborn photography…. posed and lifestyle studio sessions. Now that I have a beautiful all white studio, with lots of room, I am able to offer lifestyle studio sessions. What is this, you may ask? How is it different from my normal parent/family photos during a newborn session? Let me break it down for you!
Posed newborn photography is simply that, posing your baby in different positions. I use different color wraps, backdrops and props such as bucket and crates. These sessions must be done when the baby is less than 14 days old and likes to sleep. These are the sweet pictures with the hands under chin, bum up in the air, head on hands, etc.! These sessions can sometimes take up to 3 hours depending on how well the baby sleeps. I may be biased, but this style of photography is my favorite!! Mostly because I get to snuggle on your little one for a few hours!!
Lifestyle Newborn Sessions are a more casual style of photography. You can do these photos anytime in the first month of the baby being born. When families choose this style, it is usually because they want a relaxed environment. These sessions include poses with family members, and some un-posed individuals of your baby. This works perfectly for families that don’t necessarily want the posed style of newborn photography. In my studio, I have a beautiful bed with all white linens, sheer curtains, and an antique neutral colored couch. I can do a combination of baby and mom, baby and dad, and simple detail shots of the baby without using props. I can also help direct you in what to wear for these sessions. This is perfect for someone who wants simple, beautiful and timeless photos. My goal is to capture intimate moments between Mom, Dad and new baby. This is also perfect if you don’t want to do the 3 hour posed session, but still want to capture the newborn period!
I hope this helps to break down the different types of newborn photography! With my new studio I am able to offer a variety of photo sessions to meet every person’s needs!
